Some people have a passion for fast cars, some for motorcycles, and others for water sports, in this case boating. People who are serious about boating all agree that the best place to spend a day is on the water. That is about the only thing about boating that has not changed over, go today, the last few years. Enthusiasts all over the world are reaping the rewards of better ideas in boating that range from new mechanical technology to stronger equipment and better quality production process of today's hi tech factories.
One thing most people can agree on is that in the past boating has been fairly expensive to enjoy and it seemed like every year boats required more and more expensive repairs and maintenance to be able to use them as intended. It drove most boaters' nuts to spend as much time maintaining and repairing their boats as on the water enjoying them.
Lately, boat manufacturers have made great strides in improving the reliability of engines and electronic systems which have made boating a lot more enjoyable for all. Used to be that every other year or so the gear oil in the lower unit would have to be changed out. Today some brands claim their systems never need gear oil changes. On some outboard engines today there is no yearly winterizing that needs to be done, literally saving the owner thousands of dollars in costs over the life of the boat. What does this mean to the average boat owner? It means more time on the water and less and less cost, making boating more affordable than ever before for the average owner.
Another piece of boating that has undergone some changes recently is how boaters chose to own or acquire their boats. In some parts of the country a new form of ownership is taking shape in the form of Clubs. These boating "Clubs" actually purchase boats and as a member of the club you can enjoy all the benefits of boat ownership without the worry of maintenance, repair, upkeep, or hauling your boat around.
